Most "top cities for events" posts are written by someone who has never loaded a truck at 6am for a resort ballroom or fought Utah canyon wind on a mountain patio. We have. Hana produces events in three markets, Phoenix & Scottsdale, Salt Lake City & Utah & Las Vegas. Each one runs on its own season, its own venues & its own set of problems planners need to know about before they book a date.

What is Phoenix & Scottsdale like to produce in?

Phoenix is home base, so this is the market we know down to the loading dock. Corporate season runs October through April. That is when the resort scene wakes up, daytime temperatures sit in the comfortable 65-85°F range & every property from Scottsdale to Paradise Valley is booking galas, executive retreats & holiday parties back to back. Book early for that window. The good venues & the strongest talent get locked months out, sometimes before the prior season even ends.

Outdoor events are the default here, not the exception. A courtyard dinner, a poolside reception, a desert lawn under string lights, all standard. That means permits, wind contingencies & a real plan for anything with an open flame. We have written before about why fire permits are not optional. In Phoenix that is not a formality. It is how the fire marshal, the venue & your event actually stay on the same page. It is the difference between a show that runs clean & one that gets shut down mid-set.

Summer is the quiet season on the corporate side. May through September runs hot, regularly past 100°F, sometimes well into the 110s by July & August. Most planners shift toward evening starts, shaded patios or push the whole event indoors. If you are booking a summer date, plan around the heat instead of against it. Vendor availability actually opens up when the corporate calendar goes quiet.

What should planners know about Salt Lake City & Utah?

Utah flips the calendar. Summer is peak season here, June through September, when the weather is dependable & families & corporate groups are both booking at once. Where Phoenix events lean corporate-heavy, Utah is a genuine mix, weddings, family reunions, company retreats & mountain resort programs all sharing the same busy months, often the same venues on back-to-back weekends.

Mountain venues are the draw & the challenge. A ski resort lodge, a canyon overlook, an outdoor amphitheater against the Wasatch range, all beautiful & all logistically different from a flat ballroom load-in. Elevation changes weather fast. Afternoons can bring sudden wind or a pop-up storm even in July, so we build a backup plan into every outdoor Utah date rather than hoping the forecast holds.

We work the Ogden & Provo corridor as much as Salt Lake City proper. Planners sometimes assume Utah entertainment means Salt Lake City only, it does not. If your venue is thirty minutes north or south of downtown, we are already there. The drive doesn't change our pricing or our load-in.

How is producing in Las Vegas different?

Vegas is a fly-in market. Most of the planners we work with here are not local. They are flying in a convention, a product launch or an incentive trip & need a team that already knows the venues, the union rules & the load-in windows. That is the whole job in this city: be the local knowledge the out-of-town team does not have time to build themselves.

Convention season keeps Vegas busy nearly year-round, but the volume spikes hard around the major trade show weeks, when hotel labor, load-in slots & even parking get tight. If your event lands during a big convention week, lock logistics earlier than you would anywhere else. Confirm your load-in time in writing before you assume it.

Expectations run high here by default. Guests in Vegas have seen a lot of production, so a corporate event competing for attention in that city needs a clear reason to stand out, not just louder.
